Theme of Evening Experience:
The call of missionary discipleship is permeating the Church with Spirit inspired reflection and action. For catechetical leaders, it is a calling that has offered opportunity for intentional discernment about ways to proclaim the Gospel for today’s disciple, through means of encounter and accompaniment.  The National Conference for Catechetical Leadership is committed to the various facets of the Spirit’s invitation to explore missionary discipleship, and our universal call to provide hope to others through the Gospel.  This evening event will provide the unique experience of encouraging the Representative Council to unpack another layer of this shared calling to become missionary disciples with the local church in Chicago.

National Church and Missionary Discipleship:

Missionary Discipleship correlates with the local Chicago vision of Cardinal Cupich’s Renew My Church. At the national level, missionary discipleship is the essence of the conversation that took place at the Convocation of Catholic Leaders: Joy of the Gospel in America and is the visionary model through which the V Encuentro was founded and implemented. With our Catechetical Sunday theme, “Living as Missionary Disciples” and the NCCL Annual Conference, “Walk With Christ,” NCCL is committed to this vocational invitation in the church today.  To prepare for this experience, please utilize NCCL’s Catechetical Sunday Toolkit with various digital resources on missionary discipleship.
